William S. and Nancy Scott Family

William S. Scott was born in Henry Co., Al, 21 July 1823. This, his 1st wife,
Nancy Kirkland, was born in Henry Co., Al in 1822. She was related to his mother,
Nancy Kirkland Scott (b. 1805). They had one child. They married in Henry Co.,Al in 1844.
William S. apparently migrated to Shelby/Panola County, Tx in 1846 with his parents,John and Nancy Scott.
He was listed in the 1850 census as a member of his parent's household. In the early 1850's he acquired
his own property and is listed in the 1860 census with wife, Catherine E. and two young
children, the oldest of which was age 4.
His 1st wife, Nancy, remarried to Randall Randolph Blackshear
in Henry,Co., Al, in the 1850s and had 4 children by him.

The two Nancy Kirklands caused considerable confusion among some Kirkland researchers,
Causing some inaccuracies to creep into some research documents. The elder Nancy was,
at the same time, a mother-in-law AND a cousin to the younger Nancy. At this time, I
am unsure of the younger Nancy's parents, but they were close relatives of the elder
Nancy's parents.
